Meenakshi Chaku, M.D., M.S., is a Board Certified Glaucoma Specialist and Comprehensive Ophthalmologist serving as the Director of the Glaucoma Service and a Professor of Ophthalmology at the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. Her clinical expertise encompasses the medical, laser, and surgical management of glaucoma and cataracts, with a particular focus on complex conditions such as ocular hypertension, uveitic glaucoma, and surgical complications. Prior to her tenure at Loyola, Dr. Chaku served on the medical staff at Boston University.
Dr. Chaku earned her medical degree and a Master of Science in Basic Medical Sciences from Wayne State University, following her undergraduate education at the University of Michigan. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the Kresge Eye Institute and a specialized glaucoma fellowship at the University of Virginia. An active researcher and educator, she focuses on surgical advancements and patient education. She holds leadership positions in several prestigious organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Chicago Glaucoma Society.
